India Launches Global Diplomatic Outreach Following Operation Sindoor, First Delegation Heads to UAE

India is embarking on a significant diplomatic campaign following Operation Sindoor, with the first of seven all-party delegations scheduled to depart for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday.
This campaign, which launches on May 22, is the first of a planned worldwide outreach to enhance India’s relationship with its overseas allies and reaffirm its strong anti-terrorism posture.

Shrikant Eknath Shinde, a member of parliament for the Shiv Sena, will lead the first delegation. The delegation is expected to interact with relevant institutions, elected officials and policymakers in Congo, Sierra Leone and Liberia, in addition to the UAE. The purpose of these talks is to convey India’s united stand against terrorism and promote greater cooperation in safeguarding international security.

Six more delegations will depart for different parts of the world from May 22 to May 25. Each delegation will comprise members of parliament from different political parties, well-known political figures and experienced diplomats. Together, they seek to demonstrate India’s commitment to national unity and international peace and stability by delivering a consistent message of zero tolerance to terrorism.
On May 25, two high-profile delegations will begin their international visits. One team, led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, will travel to the United States, Brazil, Colombia, Guyana, and Panama. The other, headed by BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, will cover France, Italy, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Belgium, and Germany.

Earlier, on May 22, JD(U) leader Sanjay Kumar Jha will lead a team to Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. On the same day, DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi will head another delegation to Russia, Slovenia, Greece, Latvia, and Spain.

On May 23, BJP’s Baijayant Panda is set to travel to Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Algeria. The following day, on May 24, NCP MP Supriya Sule will lead a delegation to Qatar, South Africa, Ethiopia, and Egypt.

This wave of diplomatic missions follows Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 in direct response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The operation successfully destroyed nine terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. As part of their itinerary, the delegations are also expected to engage with key strategic partners, including several members of the United Nations Security Council, to rally support for India’s counterterrorism efforts and long-term regional security goals.
