UAE welcomes ceasefire deal to safeguard Red Sea trade
UAE backs Oman-led truce with Houthis to safeguard Red Sea trade and promote regional peace

UAE Welcomes Ceasefire Agreement to Enhance Maritime Security and Regional Stability
In a major move to reduce tensions in the Red Sea region and secure important international trade routes, the United Arab Emirates welcomed the news of a ceasefire agreement mediated by Oman with Yemen’s Houthi militia.
The agreement aims to halt Houthi-led attacks on U.S. vessels navigating the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden—two critical maritime corridors for global commerce. The UAE hailed the move as a constructive development that strengthens the security of maritime navigation and international trade, especially at a time when global supply chains are vulnerable to regional instability.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated in a formal statement that the nation supports diplomatic efforts that advance peace, stability, and the settlement of disputes both inside and outside of the region. In addition to supporting larger initiatives to put an end to protracted hostilities, the Ministry expressed optimism that this truce would provide a forum for fresh, peaceful discussions in Yemen.
The US has agreed to stop its military operations against the Houthis as part of the ceasefire agreement, according to media outlets. But Houthi chief negotiator Mohammed Abdulsalam emphasized that Israel is not included in any way, shape, or form in the group’s agreement.
The Red Sea region has notably seen no Houthi attacks since January, suggesting a possible turn toward collaboration and de-escalation.
