UAE President Honors South Africa’s Barbara Creecy with Zayed Second Medal for COP28 Contribution

In recognition of her key contribution to the success of the 28th Conference, Barbara Creecy, Minister of Transport and former Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment of the Republic of South Africa, was awarded the second Medal of Zayed by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, in recognition of her significant contribution to the success of the 28th Conference. The United Arab Emirates hosted the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) last year.

The medal was awarded to Creecy by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa, who expressed his sincere appreciation to Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the award and praised the historic UAE consensus reached at COP28. This is a crucial part of sustainability and global climate action.

Congratulating Creasy on the achievement, Alhameli emphasized South Africa’s commitment to COP28 and the historic UAE agreement to promote cooperation and solidarity in the protection of the planet and humanity.
