UAE Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall and Thunderstorms Expected This Week
The UAE is bracing for a tumultuous weather week, as heavy rainfall, thunder, and lightning are forecasted to sweep across various parts of the country. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued warnings of stormy conditions expected to hit the region from Wednesday night through late Thursday. According to the NCM, scattered areas are likely to experience moderate to heavy rain, intermittently accompanied by lightning and thunder, with a chance of hail particularly in the western regions. Wind speeds are expected to peak at 65kph on Thursday, adding to the atmospheric turbulence.
While rain is predicted throughout the initial days of the week, the most intense weather is anticipated on Thursday. In Abu Dhabi, thunder, lightning, and heavy rain are projected to commence around 7 am, with temperatures peaking at 38°C on Tuesday. Dubai is also slated to experience thunder and lightning later on Thursday, with forecasts indicating the stormy conditions to persist from 10 am to 4 pm. Reports of rainfall have already emerged in some parts of the UAE, prompting a yellow weather alert for areas including Dubai and Fujairah until 8 pm Sunday. Heavy rain was particularly observed in areas like Saih Al Salam in Dubai, along with light rainfall in Al Ain.
This anticipated heavy rainfall comes on the heels of the UAE’s recovery efforts from the stormy weather experienced on April 16, which led to significant disruptions across the country. As the nation prepares for the impending weather conditions, vigilance and precautionary measures are urged to minimize the impact on daily life and infrastructure.
