Middle East tour from May 13–16 to focus on $1 trillion investment deals, defense cooperation, and regional security

Trump to Visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE in May for Strategic Talks and Investment Deals

Washington, D.C. – Former U.S. President Donald Trump will embark on a major diplomatic visit to the Middle East next month, with confirmed stops in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates from May 13 to 16, the White House announced on Tuesday.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt released the itinerary during a press briefing, noting that while Trump’s trip includes key Gulf countries, Israel is not currently on his list of destinations. She said Trump will attend Pope Francis’ funeral in Rome next weekend – his first foreign trip since returning to the presidency.

The tour is expected to focus heavily on economic cooperation. Trump previously indicated that the visit to Saudi Arabia would involve discussions to finalize a substantial investment package, reportedly exceeding $1 trillion, into the U.S. economy, with a significant portion related to military purchases. Similar agreements are anticipated in Qatar and the UAE.

“This trip will create tremendous job opportunities in just two or three days,” Trump said in a past statement, although specific details on the deals have not yet been disclosed.

In addition to economic discussions, Trump’s agenda may cover broader geopolitical issues such as the ongoing war in Gaza and the conflict in Ukraine, according to sources familiar with the planning.

Trump emphasized his strong ties with Middle Eastern leaders and hinted earlier in April that the visit was being considered, following speculation in media reports.

This upcoming tour underscores Trump’s aim to strengthen U.S. ties with Gulf allies and boost economic cooperation during his second term in office.
