UAE Records Hottest April on Record: Met office

April 2025 hits 42.6°C, surpassing previous records; Fujairah reaches 46.6°C

UAE Experiences Record-Breaking April Heatwave

According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the United Arab Emirates (UAE) saw its hottest April on record, with average daily temperatures rising to a blistering 42.6°C (108.7°F). This was a major climate event for the area, surpassing the previous April record of 42.2°C (108°F) set in 2017.
Since 2003, the NCM has maintained extensive weather pattern monitoring.

Authorities have issued safety warnings for residents, advising them to stay hydrated and refrain from working outside during the hottest hours of the day due to the extreme heatwave that has engulfed the United Arab Emirates in recent days. According to NCM meteorologist Ahmed Habib, a mass of extremely hot air rushing in from the desert was the reason for the skyrocketing temperatures.

One of the most alarming incidents occurred on April 27, when temperatures in Fujairah reached 46.6°C (115.9°F), the second-highest temperature ever recorded in April in the country. The current heatwave contrasts sharply with the greatest rains the United Arab Emirates has seen in 75 years in April 2024. Global warming, according to experts at the World Meteorological Attributes Network, is to blame for the terrible deaths of four people and the flooding caused by torrential rains in Dubai.

A significant oil exporter, the United Arab Emirates has made significant investments in renewable energy to diversify its energy sources and tackle climate-related concerns.
