UAE, Kenya Discuss Strengthening Ties and Collaborative Role in African Peace Efforts

London, April 17 – In a high-level meeting held on the sidelines of the London Sudan Conference, Lana Nusseibeh, the United Arab Emirates’ Assistant Minister for Political Affairs, met with Musalia Mudavadi, Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, to explore ways to deepen bilateral cooperation and support regional stability in Africa.

The discussions focused on expanding UAE–Kenya relations, with both sides emphasizing the value of enhancing people-to-people connections and fostering joint initiatives across various fields such as trade, development, and diplomacy.

A significant portion of the meeting addressed the escalating conflict in Sudan. Mudavadi and Nusseibeh discussed their points of view on the matter and emphasized the significance of cooperating with African institutions like the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the African Union (AU) in order to promote a peaceful, political settlement.

Reiterating the UAE’s strong commitment to African-led solutions to regional issues, Nusseibeh stressed the importance of the African Union in mediating a ceasefire in Sudan and facilitating a peaceful transition to a civilian-led government.

In addition, he stressed the need for greater international responsibility, calling on organizations such as the United Nations to confront the abuse of humanitarian aid, which has become a dangerous tactic in war zones like Sudan.

The UAE Ambassador to the UK, Mansour Belhou, also attended the conference and endorsed the discussions aimed at strengthening regional security structures and diplomatic cooperation.

This diplomatic engagement reflects the UAE’s continued commitment to building strong alliances in Africa and advancing peace through inclusive, African-led processes.
