UAE Takes Action Against Spam Calls with Dh855,000 in Fines
Authorities in the UAE have fined spammers heavily in an effort to stop unsolicited telemarketing. A significant step has been taken to decrease unwanted calls and improve resident privacy with the issuance of Dh855,000 in fines by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA).
In a statement on Platform X, TDRA confirmed that the fines will be levied in accordance with Cabinet Resolutions No. 56 and 57 of 2024 introduced in August to regulate telemarketing.
A Dh5,000 charge will be imposed on anyone who makes marketing calls using a phone line that is licensed in their name under the new law.
Under the new law, anyone who makes marketing calls using a phone line that is licensed in their name will be charged Dh5,000.
