UAE Declares Public Holiday for Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has declared Sunday, September 15, as a public holiday for public sector employees in honor of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.

The Federal Commission for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has declared a holiday on Saturday, September 7.

The Prophet’s birthday is observed on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar. In Arabic, this holiday is referred to as Eid al-Mawlid al-Nabawi or Milad.

The holiday is marked by observance rather than celebration, with celebrations kept to a minimum.
