UAE Cabinet Approves Formation of Supreme Space Council

United Arab Emirates – The UAE Cabinet, chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has approved the creation of the Supreme Space Council. Cabinet. The council will be chaired by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.

The Council includes Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Minister of Economy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Space Agency, Member and Secretary General of the Council, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy. and Remote Work Applications, Vice President of Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center, His Excellency Faisal Bin Abdulaziz Al Bannai, Adviser to the President for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology, and His Excellency Major General Dr. Mubarak Bin Ghaffan Al Jabri, Assistant Undersecretary for Support and Defense Industries in the Ministry of Defense; Assistant Under Secretary for Support and Defense Industries in the Ministry of Defence.

The main responsibilities of the Council, as defined by resolutions, include approving general policies for the regulation of the space sector and related activities, defining national priorities for the space sector, identifying and investing in and acquiring technologies necessary to ensure the country’s technological independence.

Priorities for public and private organizations involved in space activities.

In addition, the Council is responsible for approving plans and strategies focused on space security in collaboration with international partners and a comprehensive framework for managing infrastructure, facilities and assets in the space sector.

The Council will develop programs for capacity building in the space sector and establish local, regional and international partnerships that will benefit the space sector and related industries.

It will review and approve laws, policies, strategies and national programs related to the space sector in coordination with the appropriate authorities.

The decision designates the United Arab Emirates Space Agency as the General Secretariat for the Council, responsible for providing technical and administrative support.
