UAE Bans Pakistani Citizens from Obtaining Visas: Reasons Revealed

ISLAMABAD: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has stopped issuing visas to Pakistani citizens. Many Pakistani citizens face visa issues to visit UAE. Even Pakistani celebrities and businessmen cannot get UAE visa.

Pakistan’s ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, has admitted that Pakistanis are finding it very difficult to get UAE visas. People of Pakistan are also complaining on social media that UAE visa is not available.

What the Pakistani ambassador said

Pakistan Embassy in UAE has released a video from its X (Twitter) account. In this post, Pakistani Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi said, “Efforts are being made to solve the problem of visa unavailability for Pakistanis.

Pakistanis need return ticket, hotel booking and 3000 dirhams to apply for visa. We have asked the FIA not only to stop them but also to ban those whose face shows that they do not have a work visa, are not going on a tour, or for some other purpose.

Why did UAE ban Pakistanis?

In fact, Pakistani citizens are involved in visa violations by visiting the UAE. They were accused of misbehaving on social media, traveling with fake documents and engaging in criminal activity in the UAE.

Dawn News reported that UAE officials made these complaints during a meeting between Pakistan’s ambassador to the UAE and local officials. Based on these issues, the UAE Cabinet proposed a ban on Pakistani citizens. This has been shared by Pakistan Embassy in Islamabad in official documents.

Pakistanis violating UAE laws

UAE officials have cited several reasons for the rising tensions, including Pakistanis engaging in political activities and protests within the country, which are in direct violation of Emirati laws.

Also, social media posts by some Pakistanis criticizing the UAE government’s policies are said to have fueled the unrest. Cases of document fraud such as fake degree verification and fake identity cards and passports have been reported among job seekers.

Pakistanis involved in criminal activities

Officials also flagged Pakistanis’ higher involvement in criminal activities, including theft, fraud, begging, prostitution and drug-related crimes, compared to other foreign communities.

The UAE’s zero-tolerance policy for actions that compromise security and stability underscores the seriousness of these issues. The UAE said the issues were discussed in a cabinet meeting, resulting in visa restrictions for Pakistani nationals.
