The International Air Transport Association (IATA) opened a larger office in Abu Dhabi with a cutting-edge training facility, enhancing its footprint in the United Arab Emirates. This move demonstrates IATA’s commitment to fostering the next generation of aviation professionals and assisting the expansion of the Middle Eastern aviation sector.

A Milestone for UAE Aviation
Along with IATA representatives and the first group of trainees, Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority, presided over the inauguration ceremony. IATA’s expansion, according to Al Suwaidi, who spoke at the ceremony, “reaffirms the UAE’s position as a leading global aviation hub.

” He also mentioned how Abu Dhabi’s strategic location and unparalleled connections make it a popular choice for multinational organizations.

Comprehensive Services Across the Region
The Abu Dhabi office will serve governments, airlines, trainees, and strategic partners both in the Middle East and outside. The UAE’s position as a major participant in international aviation is strengthened by this calculated step, which allows IATA to streamline its services and encourage cooperation among industry stakeholders.

Kamil Alawadhi, IATA’s Regional Vice-President for Africa and the Middle East, expressed pride in the organization’s growing footprint in the UAE. Over the past 18 months, IATA’s Abu Dhabi team has seen remarkable growth, expanding by 140%.

“With this new office, we aim to better serve our airline members, trainees, and stakeholders across the aviation value chain. Our goal is to facilitate the continued successful growth of the region’s aviation sector, which significantly contributes to the social and economic development of the Middle East,” Alawadhi stated.
