Oman Declares 3-Day School Weekend with Official Holiday Announcement
Oman Announces Teachers’ Day 2024 as Public and Private Schools Holiday

Oman has introduced a new holiday, accompanied by a three-day weekend for both public and private schools across the nation. In a move to recognize and celebrate the profound impact of educators, Teachers’ Day on February 24th has been officially declared as a holiday for all educational institutions.
Given that February 24th falls on a weekend this year, the designated holiday will be observed on Sunday, February 25th. The Ministry of Education, in a statement shared on social media, conveyed the decision and highlighted the significance of the occasion.
The statement read, “On the occasion of Omani Teachers’ Day, which falls on February 24, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has kindly requested that this day every year be an official day off for all male and female teachers and those holding related teaching and administrative positions in public and private schools.”
Furthermore, the announcement clarified that Teachers’ Day would be commemorated annually, and in instances where this significant day coincides with another holiday, it will be observed on an alternative day.
The Ministry of Education emphasized the importance of recognizing and honoring the contributions of educators, fostering an atmosphere of appreciation for their tireless efforts in shaping the future of Oman. As part of the celebration, Sunday, February 25, 2024, will stand as an official holiday for all educational bodies, encompassing both government and private schools in Oman.
This decision aims to underscore the vital role teachers play in the development of society and education, providing them with a dedicated day to acknowledge their dedication and hard work. The educational community in Oman welcomes this initiative as a gesture of gratitude for the relentless commitment exhibited by teachers and administrators.
