Meta’s WhatsApp introduces new service for UAE users
Emirates users can now organize chats easily with WhatsApp’s new ‘List’ feature

Meta Expands WhatsApp Features in UAE with New ‘List’ Service
Dubai: Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp has introduced its latest feature, ‘List,’ for users in the UAE, enhancing chat organization and accessibility.
WhatsApp users across the country received notifications about the new feature early Friday, which allows them to categorize their conversations into customizable lists. Users can now streamline their message experience by adding specific conversations to Lists instead of having to navigate a crowded chat inbox.
How the “List” Feature Is Used
This function can be used by tapping the addition button in the filter bar located at the top of the chat screen. Group and individual conversations are among the talks they are asked to select to add to their List. Finding important chats will be easier with faster navigation as a result of this improvement.
Lists are displayed at the top of the inbox, alongside default tabs such as “All,” “Unread,” and “Groups.” When a user has many lists, they can easily switch between them by scrolling horizontally on the filter bar.
The “List” feature in WhatsApp is being expanded globally.
In November 2023, WhatsApp launched the List service in the US before progressively expanding to other countries. The feature is a part of WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to improve usability and efficiency for its users worldwide.
WhatsApp has been testing a number of updates in addition to the List function, such as an in-app tool for event organizing. Although the global rollout of this update is still ongoing, Meta has given priority to its launch in a certain areas.
Meta’s AI Push and Upcoming Innovations
Meta has been actively integrating artificial intelligence into its ecosystem, and last month, the company introduced Meta AI to WhatsApp users in the UAE.
Meta plans to release a stand-alone Meta AI app in the second quarter of this year, according to CNBC reports. First available in September 2023, the AI-powered assistant can respond to prompts by creating scenarios and providing answers to user questions. The chatbot, which replaced the standard search feature in April 2024, has already been integrated by WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.
Through ongoing research, Meta hopes to outperform rivals such as OpenAI and Alphabet, which are leaders in artificial intelligence. The list function is one of the latest WhatsApp innovations that reflects Meta’s core mission to improve chat management and user experience with AI-powered tools.
