FTA’s Corporate Tax Awareness Campaign Sees Strong Participation in Initial Phase

The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has confirmed the significant participation of taxpayers subject to Corporate Tax and various stakeholders in the first phase of the comprehensive awareness campaign launched this year to introduce the new tax.

The campaign, part of the FTA’s efforts to ensure accurate and seamless implementation of Corporate Tax, included 48 in-person and virtual workshops, welcoming approximately 13,600 participants. Thirty-nine virtual workshops were organized to introduce Corporate Tax and clarify requirements and procedures for Corporate Tax registration in both Arabic and English.

These sessions were delivered through the educational platform launched on the FTA official website. The first phase also included nine in-person workshops across all seven emirates, concluding with a session on the ‘General Principles on Taxation of Corporations and Businesses’ in Dubai in December 2023.

FTA Director-General Khalid Ali Al Bustani expressed satisfaction with the success of the first phase, noting that it generated significant interest and interaction from all stakeholders involved in the implementation of Corporate Tax. Al Bustani emphasized the FTA’s commitment to reaching out to stakeholders through various channels and highlighted the campaign’s innovative methods to spread tax awareness among businesses.

The second phase of the Corporate Tax awareness campaign is scheduled for 2024, focusing on specific topics to raise awareness about legislation, requirements, and procedures for precise compliance with Corporate Tax obligations. It aims to offer educational programs suitable for all relevant groups and incorporate the latest technologies for easy access to information, preparing the business community for the efficient implementation of Corporate Tax Law.

During the workshops, FTA tax experts review the fundamentals of Corporate Tax Law, related policies, legislative procedures, criteria for subjectivity to Corporate Tax, exemptions, taxable income, tax rates, tax periods, facilities for startups and small businesses, Corporate Tax in free zones, business restructuring relief, tax losses relief, transitional rules, and provisions for tax groups, among other topics. Participants also have the opportunity to ask questions.
