UAE Joins International Geological Survey Meeting in Riyadh
Abu Dhabi [UAE], January 20: The Fourth International Mining Conference, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, featured an International Geological Survey Meeting, in which the United Arab Emirates (UAE) actively participated.
The main objective of the meeting was to develop and strengthen international cooperation in the mining sector, with an emphasis on improving geological capabilities.
The aim of the initiative is to enhance the production of essential minerals that are critical to supporting the global energy transition and advancing industrial development efforts.
Leading the UAE delegation was Ali Qassim, the Director-General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, accompanied by representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. Their joint participation underscored the UAE’s commitment to collaborating with international partners to promote innovation and excellence in geological exploration.
Throughout the meeting, discussions centered around a number of important topics, including strategies to enhance capabilities to expand geological exploration, implement further exploration efforts, and contribute to scientific advances. These efforts aim to address the various challenges facing geological exploration organizations worldwide.
The event’s major high point was the start of a worldwide project to create three important coordinating groups. The development of talent, enhancing data accessibility, and establishing a geological center of excellence—a hub for technical skill and information exchange—will be the main topics of these groups.
The UAE delegation’s active participation highlighted the importance of promoting cooperation and strengthening ties between participating countries. The delegation stressed the need for continued cooperation and urged careful implementation of the recommendations made at the meeting. This strategy is expected to produce better results in expanding mining and geological activities, which will ultimately benefit the entire sector.
