Abu Dhabi launches drive to support early disease screening
ADPHC and Ma’an team up to provide free disease screenings for underinsured residents in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Launches Fundraising Drive to Expand Early Disease Screening for Basic Health Insurance Holders
Abu Dhabi, UAE – In a major step towards enhancing preventive healthcare access, the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) and the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an have signed a strategic agreement to launch a new fundraising initiative. This joint effort is designed to support early screening programmes for cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes, targeting individuals in the emirate who are covered under basic health insurance.
The recently introduced program intends to offer qualified individuals free cancer screenings. The screening will specifically screen for colorectal cancer in men in the same age range and for cervical, breast, and colorectal cancer in women aged 40 to 75. In order to enable prompt diagnosis and management of these serious health risks, the program also offers comprehensive early detection services for type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
This joint health initiative aims to bridge the preventive care gap by providing necessary health screenings to underinsured populations. In order to avoid long-term health issues and lessen the strain on the healthcare system, the effort aims to facilitate early diagnosis.
The agreement was officially signed during the 25th IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) by His Excellency Dr. Rashid Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADPHC, and His Excellency Engineer Abdulla Hamid Al Ameri, Director General of Ma’an.
Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Al Suwaidi emphasized that the initiative embodies a shared commitment to strengthening Abu Dhabi’s public health system. “By extending free, targeted screening services to all residents regardless of their insurance status, we are taking a proactive step in saving lives and building a healthier society,” he said.
“Our goal is to rally the community—public, private, and individual contributors—around a cause that addresses urgent social health priorities,” Engineer Al Ameri added, highlighting Ma’an’s role in galvanizing support. This project serves as an example of shared responsibility and civic engagement.
As per the agreement, Ma’an will lead the fundraising effort using its official channels, enticing contributions from a range of industries. ADPHC will oversee implementation in the interim, which will include choosing healthcare providers, guaranteeing project effectiveness, and upholding stringent quality requirements.
Community members will have a direct way to support the project by seeing it featured on Ma’an’s contributions platform. Regular updates and financial reporting will ensure transparency and that contributors are aware of the impact of their contributions.
This alliance supports Abu Dhabi’s overarching goal of universal access to quality healthcare and is a great illustration of government cooperation in providing inclusive, sustainable healthcare solutions.
