Indian Population in UAE Reaches Nearly 4 Million, Contributing to Economic Growth
Indian Ambassador to Dubai and Northern Emirates Satish Kumar Sivan said this population growth is essential for the UAE’s economic growth and is in line with the country’s vision.
Speaking at a conference organized by the Dubai chapter of the Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, the diaspora Indians have played an important role in making the emirate an international financial hub.
He added that the influence of the Indian diaspora is represented in sectors such as manufacturing, retail, healthcare and the financial sector, making them important to the UAE’s economy.
“Beyond professional contributions, the Indian community acts as a cultural bridge between our two countries, which already enjoy historic ties. The contribution of the community, which has grown from 2.2 million in 2012 to 3.9 million last year, is an important factor.
One factor is the rapid strengthening of the close strategic partnership between India and the UAE over the past decade,” Khaleez said. The Indian community constitutes the largest percentage of the total expatriates in the UAE at 37.96%. The second largest expatriate population in the UAE is Pakistanis, with approximately 26,310, contributing 8.61 percent.
