UAE Welcomes 18th Group of Wounded Palestinian Children and Cancer Patients
The UAE has welcomed the 18th group of wounded Palestinian children and cancer patients, along with their accompanying family members and caregivers, arriving today in the country. This arrival is part of an extensive humanitarian initiative directed by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The President’s directives call for the provision of medical treatment for 1,000 injured children and 1,000 cancer patients from the Gaza Strip, who will receive care at various hospitals across the UAE.
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, underscored the UAE’s unwavering commitment to providing critical medical treatment and healthcare support to the Palestinian people. This initiative is aimed at mitigating the severe humanitarian crisis faced by the residents of Gaza, where health services have been devastated.
Al Shamsi articulated that the wise leadership’s decision to extend support in the field of healthcare is a direct response to the catastrophic collapse of health services in the Gaza Strip. The UAE’s efforts are intended to offer relief and essential medical care to those suffering from severe injuries and critical illnesses amid the ongoing conflict.
He also expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Egyptian authorities, officials, and support teams played a crucial role in facilitating the transfer of the wounded individuals. Their cooperation and support have been instrumental in ensuring that the UAE’s medical teams in Al Arish were able to efficiently manage the transfer process.
The latest group of patients arrived on an Etihad Airways flight from Al Arish International Airport, landing at Zayed International Airport. Medical teams were immediately on hand to transfer the wounded and those requiring urgent medical attention to hospitals for prompt treatment.
This humanitarian initiative is part of the UAE’s broader, ongoing efforts to support the Palestinian people and enhance the response to the severe humanitarian conditions experienced in the Gaza Strip. The UAE continues to be deeply committed to providing aid and support at various levels, demonstrating solidarity and compassion towards Palestine during these challenging times.
