UAE weather: Safety alert issued as thick fog blankets Abu Dhabi
Motorists advised to use caution on the roads due to dangerous conditions

On Tuesday morning, a weather alert was issued in Abu Dhabi due to the emergence of thick fog in various parts of the city. Abu Dhabi Police, via a social media notice, urged drivers to be cautious as the dense fog significantly reduced visibility on the roads.
To address the hazardous conditions, the police took proactive measures by lowering the speed limit to 80 kph on Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed International Road. This speed reduction applied to the stretch between Abu Dhabi Industrial City (Icad) and Al Arysm Bridge.
In response to the foggy weather, Abu Dhabi Police emphasized the importance of motorists adhering to the temporarily adjusted speed limits. Commuters reported experiencing slow-moving traffic on Sheikh Zayed Bridge, particularly around 9 am, as drivers grappled with poor visibility.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), bouts of fog were observed over several areas, including Abu Dhabi Island, Yas Island, Saadiyat Island, Sheikh Khalifa Street, Al Jubail Island, the Corniche, and Al Bateen Airport. The NCM predicted that the fog would persist until at least 9:15 am on Tuesday, and their five-day weather bulletin indicated the likelihood of further fog covering the skies in the coming days.
Additionally, the foggy weather coincided with a drop in temperatures on Tuesday morning, characteristic of the winter season’s cold snap. As a precaution, authorities continue to advise residents and commuters to stay informed about weather updates and exercise caution while navigating the roads during adverse conditions.
