UAE backs diplomatic efforts to resolve Sudan crisis

Emirates calls for ceasefire, dialogue, and international cooperation to address Sudan’s humanitarian and political challenges

UAE Endorses Turkey’s Diplomatic Efforts for Resolving Sudan Crisis

The UAE has welcomed Turkey’s diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing crisis in Sudan, which it considers a priority for the UAE.

The UAE stressed that the efforts reflect Turkey’s firm commitment to promoting regional peace and stability, and to strengthening and contributing to international relations.

The UAE is fully prepared to cooperate and coordinate with Turkish efforts and all diplomatic efforts to end the conflict in Sudan and find a comprehensive solution to the crisis.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) reaffirmed the UAE’s firm position on the crisis, emphasizing that the primary focus is on achieving an immediate ceasefire and calling for an urgent cessation of hostilities in the civil war between the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan and the Sudanese Armed Forces, while also ameliorating the devastating humanitarian crisis by providing urgent relief to the Sudanese people.

The Ministry stressed that the UAE is working with all relevant parties, regional partners and the international community to find a peaceful solution to the crisis, to stop the escalation, achieve a ceasefire and initiate dialogue between the Sudanese political factions and warring parties in order to fulfill the aspirations of the Sudanese people for development, security and prosperity.

Furthermore, the UAE stresses the importance of the warring parties respecting their obligations under the Jeddah Declaration, and the Aligned Mechanisms for Life-Saving and Peace-Building in Sudan (ALPS) proposed by the Group.

The Ministry highlights that the absence of the Sudanese Armed Forces from the recent peace talks held by the UAE in Geneva, in collaboration with a number of countries and regional and international organizations, as part of the ALPS Group, demonstrates a blatant disregard for the brotherly Sudanese people, and reflects their strong unwillingness to cooperate and engage in peace talks aimed at resolving the crisis and achieving sustainable peace.

The UAE also emphasizes the value of communication and talks as the sole means of settling the dispute, preserving the democratic system, and reaching a national agreement for a government run by the people.

The United Arab Emirates is still urging all sides to resume communication and actively participate in efforts to bring about peace in Sudan.
