UAE visa amnesty extended until December 31

Final two-month extension offers violators one last chance to regularize their status without penalties

UAE Extends Visa Amnesty Deadline to December 31

Dubai: The United Arab Emirates has extended its visa amnesty program until December 31, 2024, allowing those who violate residency laws an extra two months to normalize their status without incurring penalties or being prohibited from entering the country again. According to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), this notification gives people the chance to either leave the United Arab Emirates or find a job contract that will allow them to change their domicile in accordance with the humanitarian and civic ideals of the nation.

“This final extension was decided in celebration of the UAE’s 53rd Union Day, which aligns with the nation’s commitment to values of compassion and inclusivity,” remarked Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the ICP. In order to help people avoid fines and the possibility of deportation, the extension directly addresses their requests to settle their legal status, either by leaving the country or by finding legal work.

As the initial deadline of October 31, 2024, drew closer, ICP teams conducted a thorough study and data analysis of the large number of applications encountered in service centers, which led to this decision. The initiative’s significant impact was highlighted by the ICP’s confirmation that many people had expressed interest in using the amnesty.

Major General Al Khaili confirmed that those who continue to violate residency restrictions will face consequences after the deadline, underscoring that this extension is the final chance for violators to correct their residency status. In addition to demonstrating the humanitarian nature of the amnesty, this extension enables people to safeguard their rights, resolve disputes, and shield their loved ones from possible legal consequences.

In order to help violators, the ICP has worked closely with both public and private organizations, offering answers to any difficulties they could encounter when changing their residency status. The UAE’s dedication to maintaining legal residency requirements is demonstrated by this concerted effort, which also gives all of the infractions plenty of time to comply.

Following the expiration of the amnesty period, the ICP and other government agencies will increase inspection and enforcement efforts to ensure compliance with residency requirements. After December 31, violators will be subject to additional fines and judicial action. The UAE’s comprehensive approach seeks to maintain the rule of law as well as its reputation as a welcoming and law-abiding nation.
