UAE Leads in Global Mobile Internet Speeds; India Ranked 25th Worldwide

Global connectivity is being revolutionized by mobile internet; nonetheless, many nations are falling behind in terms of speed and dependability. Asian and Middle Eastern nations dominate the 2024 Fastest Mobile Internet Rankings, illustrating how investments in digital infrastructure are transforming global communications.

In October 2024, the number of global internet users rose to 5.52 billion, an increase of 151 million year-on-year. Mobile internet is central to everyday life, enabling communication, commerce and access to information. However, mobile internet speeds vary significantly across regions, reflecting disparities in infrastructure and investment.

These ten countries have the fastest mobile internet.
Thanks to state-of-the-art 5G networks and a robust digital infrastructure, the UAE leads the world in mobile speeds with an average of 442 Mbps according to the Speedtest Global Index. Qatar is second with 358 Mbps, followed by Kuwait with 264 Mbps. European
countries like Bulgaria (172 Mbps) and Denmark (162 Mbps) rounded out the top five.

Other countries in the top 10 include South Korea (148 Mbps), China, the Netherlands, Norway (139.58 Mbps) and Luxembourg. South Korea’s extensive 5G coverage and China’s rapid 5G expansion have cemented their positions among the world leaders.

India is ranked 25th in the world.

India is the 25th-fastest mobile internet country in the world, with 900 million internet users. With an average download speed of 100.78 Mbps, upload speed of 9.08 Mbps, and latency of 30 ms, India has advanced significantly. There are still challenges to be solved, especially in terms of closing the divide between rural and urban people and building infrastructure in disadvantaged areas.

As more people use mobile internet, the fight to improve speed and accessibility remains crucial. Countries like the United Arab Emirates are setting the bar for connectivity, which encourages other countries to invest in cutting-edge technology. For India and other developing countries to advance digital transformation and keep their competitiveness in the market, they must overcome infrastructure barriers.
