UAE Launches Blue Visa, Offering 10-Year Residency for Sustainability Experts
- The first stage of the United Arab Emirates’ Blue Visa program, a 10-year residency visa intended for people who have significantly improved environmental sustainability, has been formally launched. The program was introduced during the World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai, which took place from February 11 to 13. The announcement was made by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.
Phase One: Identifying Leaders in Sustainability
The program honors individuals who have significantly advanced environmental protection, including:
Twenty innovators and sustainability specialists will receive the Blue Visa in the first launch. - International organization leaders
- Non-governmental organization members
- Business leaders taking part in sustainability projects
- Global environmental award winners
- Scientists and researchers in ecological fields
Procedure for Applications
Eligible people can either be nominated by UAE authorities for consideration or apply directly through ICP. Through the ICP’s web platform, government organizations that prioritize sustainability can electronically submit nominations, guaranteeing a quick and easy application process.Part of the UAE’s broader sustainability agenda

Building on its existing residency programs, such as the Golden Visa and Green Visa, the Blue Visa bolsters the UAE’s efforts to attract and retain global talent in sustainability.Dr. Amna Bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE’s Minister of Climate Change and Environment, emphasized the nation’s dedication to global sustainability leadership. She said, “This initiative aims to leverage the expertise and contributions of sustainability pioneers to achieve ambitious national goals and build a sustainable future for the UAE and the world.”
By introducing the Blue Visa, the UAE establishes itself as a global center for sustainable innovation and draws top specialists committed to climate change and environmental conservation.
