Iran Announces Visa-Free Travel for 28 Countries, Including UAE, Saudi Arabia, and India, Effective February 4th

Iran’s groundbreaking decision to offer visa-free travel to citizens from 28 countries, commencing on February 4, marks a pivotal moment in the nation’s tourism landscape. The announcement, as reported by the state-run news agency IRNA, highlights Iran’s openness to welcoming tourists from diverse parts of the world, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and India, among others.

Ali Reza Bigdeli, the Foreign Ministry’s Deputy for Consular, Parliamentary, and Iranian Expatriates’ Affairs, emphasized that as of February 4, citizens from these 28 countries traveling to Iran for tourism purposes will no longer require a visa. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially communicated this executive decision to relevant institutions, signifying the unilateral cancellation of visas with these nations.

It’s noteworthy that while Indian nationals can enter Iran via plane without a visa, those entering through land borders must obtain a visa, as clarified by Bigdeli.

This strategic move underscores Iran’s commitment to fostering tourism and enhancing international relations. Previous reports from IRNA have highlighted Iran’s aspirations to attract more foreign visitors, with a notable increase in foreign arrivals reaching 4.4 million during the first eight months of the current Iranian year, representing a remarkable surge of 48.5% compared to the previous year.
