UAE accuses over 80 individuals of terrorism charges
Accused planned 'violence and terrorism on UAE soil,' prosecutors claim

The Public Prosecutor has submitted 84 individuals to the Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal, commonly referred to as the State Security Court, for trial on charges related to terrorism. Attorney General Dr. Hamad Al Shamsi has indicated that a majority of the accused have ties to the Muslim Brotherhood in the UAE. The charges specifically allege the establishment of “another clandestine organization for the purpose of committing acts of violence and terrorism on UAE soil,” according to reports from the state news agency Wam.
Wam highlights that the defendants had concealed evidence of the crime prior to their apprehension and subsequent trial in Case No (17) of 2013 – State Security.
Following a comprehensive six-month investigation and the accumulation of substantial evidence, the Attorney General initiated an in-depth probe into the matter, assigning legal representation to each suspect. Once the evidence was deemed sufficient, the Attorney General proceeded to forward the defendants for trial.
Ongoing proceedings include the appointment of legal representation for defendants lacking it. Witnesses have already begun testifying in the case, and the public trial procedures are currently in progress.
The charges underscore the alleged formation of a covert organization with the intent of carrying out violent and terrorist activities within the UAE.
