US Approves $1.2 Billion Sale of Precision Munitions to UAE
Washington: The United States on Friday approved a $1.2 billion sale of precision munitions for multiple missile rocket systems to the United Arab Emirates.
The proposed sale of GMLRS rockets and ATACMS missiles “supports the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by helping to improve the security of an important regional ally,” the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said.
It stated that it will “augment the UAE’s capacity to address present and prospective threats through the modernization of its armed forces”.
The State Department approved the sale of the munitions to the United Arab Emirates, and DSC gave the necessary notification to Congress on Friday, which must sign off on the transaction today.
