Abu Dhabi’s First Hindu Stone Mandir: A Landmark of Religious Diversity

March 1 marks the historic opening of Abu Dhabi’s inaugural Hindu stone Mandir, welcoming devotees to embrace its sacred ambiance. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 14, the BAPS Hindu Temple stands as a symbol of religious harmony within the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

A Temple of Magnificence

Abu Dhabi temple timings: The temple spokesperson announced, “The temple will open its doors to the public from 9 am to 8 pm daily, with closures every Monday.” Devotees from across the globe, having registered in advance, enjoyed a spiritual sojourn between February 15 and 29, while VIP guests graced the temple in recent days.

Registration for Reverence

Although entrance is free, devotees are required to register via the official website or the Festival of Harmony app before their visit. This ensures a seamless and organized experience for all attendees.

Architectural Marvel in the Desert

Constructed at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 700 crore, this unique temple sprawls over a 27-acre expanse in Abu Mureikhah, near Al Rahba, along the Dubai-Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Highway. Boasting architectural finesse, the mandir comprises 1.8 million cubic meters of sandstone and 18 lakh bricks imported from Rajasthan.

Symbolic Significance

The temple’s Nagara-style architecture pays homage to India’s rich heritage and echoes the recently inaugurated Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Its seven towering spires represent the seven Emirates of the UAE, adorned with murtis of revered deities including Sri Ram, Shiv, Jagannath, Krishna, Swaminarayan, Tirupati Balaji, and Lord Ayyappa.

Epitome of Reverence

The BAPS Mandir stands as the largest Hindu Mandir in the Gulf region, a beacon of spiritual reverence and architectural grandeur.
