Uttar Pradesh to Revolutionize Fisheries Sector with ₹4,000 Crore UAE Investment
The UAE-based Aqua Bridge Group has invested ₹4,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh, putting the state on the verge of a significant revolution in its fishing industry. This project, which is one of the biggest FDIs in India’s aquaculture sector, intends to modernize fish farming through advanced research, technology, and organized market integration.
Strategic Expansion Across Six Districts
The Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Authority (UPIDA) will oversee the ambitious project, which will be created in Saraiya hamlet in the Unnao district. The six important districts of Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao, Ayodhya, Barabanki, and Rae Bareli will also be served by its operations.
A specialized fish farming cluster in Unnao will serve as the core of this initiative, focusing on intensive aquaculture, AI-driven fisheries management, and export-oriented production.
Jai Prakash Singh, coordinator of the UP Diversified Agriculture Support Project (UPDASP), confirmed that an Intensive Aquaculture Farm & Aquatic Research Centre in Unnao will oversee modern fish feed production, post-harvest processing, and farmer training. A formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the UAE firm and the state government is expected soon, reinforcing the state’s commitment to innovation in fisheries.
AI-Driven Aquaculture to Enhance Productivity
This project is the first of its type in Uttar Pradesh to combine cutting-edge research with AI-based fisheries management, in contrast to traditional investments that prioritize output. The program seeks to improve efficiency, guarantee sustainable growth, and optimize fish farming methods by utilizing artificial intelligence.
According to Sunil Singh, a fisheries expert at UPDASP, the investment is projected to double Uttar Pradesh’s fish production capacity. Additionally, it will generate employment for over one lakh people, including 34,000 fish-farming families, and provide specialized training to another one lakh farmers in modern aquaculture techniques.
Boosting Hatcheries and Commercial Fish Production
The main objective of this project is to establish hatcheries for exotic fish species, Indian key carp and other commercially useful species. The objective of this project is to enhance the long-term viability and economic growth of the fisheries industry in the state by ensuring a sustainable supply of high-quality fish species.
Highlighting India’s rapidly expanding fisheries sector, this significant investment positions Uttar Pradesh as a key hub for aquaculture innovation.
