UAE Leaders Extend Independence Day Greetings to India; Celebrating Strong Bilateral Ties

President Sheikh Mohammed sent a congratulatory message to India’s President Draupadi Murmu as the country celebrates its Independence Day.

Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed sent similar congratulatory messages to the Indian President and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The news agency WAM reported.

Sheikh Mohammed also took to social media platform X to send a congratulatory message.

“Today, India proudly celebrates its 78th Independence Day, a testament to the country’s incredible development journey. As we celebrate this important milestone, I extend my heartiest congratulations to my friend Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India and the people of India,” Sheikh Mohammed wrote.

“The UAE is committed to strengthening our friendship, advancing bilateral cooperation and building stronger ties in all areas of our enduring partnership.

“Happy Independence Day to our Indian friends.”

India celebrates this event on August 15 every year to commemorate the country’s liberation from British rule in 1947.

Consul General of India Satish Kumar Sivan hoisted the flag at the Independence Day ceremony at the Consulate in Dubai on Thursday.

The UAE and India have developed close ties over the years in areas including economy, education and culture.

During his visit to the UAE in February, Modi addressed 40,000 Indian citizens at the Ahlan Modi event at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

During the speech, Modi said that India is proud of the expatriates who created history in Abu Dhabi.

“The relationship between our countries is historic and we wish it to continue in the future,” he said.

“Continue to strengthen the relationship between the UAE and India. I thank you for being here.

During his visit, he addressed the World Government Summit in Dubai before inaugurating Abu Dhabi’s first Hindu temple on the same day.
