Dubai Airports and two prominent local airlines have issued comprehensive advisories for passengers in anticipation of the inclement weather, urging them to brace for potential disruptions caused by rain and traffic congestion when journeying to Dubai International Airport.
As meteorological forecasts predict unsettled weather for the upcoming days, travelers are strongly encouraged to proactively plan their trips, considering the likelihood of delays and road congestion. This proactive approach is especially pertinent for those departing from Dubai International (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), as highlighted by a spokesperson from Dubai Airports. They underscored the importance of early planning, suggesting the utilization of smart apps for real-time traffic updates and alternative routes, while also recommending the convenience of the Dubai Metro for accessing DXB Terminals 1 and 3.
In light of heavy thunderstorms forecasted for May 2, Emirates airline’s spokesperson echoed similar sentiments, advising passengers to account for potential road delays en route to Dubai International Airport. Emphasizing the significance of time allocation, they suggested incorporating additional travel time into plans and leveraging the Dubai Metro whenever feasible, aligning with efforts to mitigate disruptions caused by adverse weather conditions.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued a proactive alert for medium to heavy rains spanning two days, commencing from Wednesday evening. This proactive measure has prompted employers to facilitate remote work arrangements, with authorities in Sharjah and Dubai announcing a shift towards distance learning for schools. The National Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has urged both private and government sector employers to prioritize employee safety, recommending remote work arrangements for non-essential personnel.
Furthermore, Emirates emphasized the importance of passengers ensuring their contact details are up-to-date, enabling them to receive the latest flight information promptly. Meanwhile, flydubai and Etihad Airways also issued similar advisories, urging passengers to allocate additional travel time and stay informed about any updates regarding their flights.
In response to the anticipated adverse weather conditions, flydubai advised passengers to plan their journeys meticulously, whether traveling by car or public transport. They stressed the importance of updating contact details and regularly checking flight statuses via the airline’s website for real-time updates.
Similarly, Etihad Airways cautioned passengers about adverse weather conditions expected across the country from May 1-3, advising them to allow extra time for potential delays. Passengers utilizing the Etihad bus service between Zayed International Airport and Dubai were encouraged to check in early to facilitate a seamless transfer to the airport, reflecting a collective commitment to ensuring passenger safety and convenience amidst challenging weather conditions.
