UAE Strengthens Economic Ties at Second BRICS Sherpa Meeting in Brazil


Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – His Excellency Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic and Trade Affairs and the UAE’s official Sherpa to BRICS, led the UAE delegation at the second BRICS Sherpa Meeting, held from April 23 to 26, 2025.

The meeting, a significant preparatory event for the upcoming BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on April 28-29, centered on crafting the Foreign Ministers’ Report and identifying important areas for increased collaboration among BRICS member nations.

In his speech, His Excellency Al Hajeri emphasized the essential need for BRICS to create substantial economic outcomes that benefit member countries’ economies. He also praised the spirit of cooperation and dedication shown by all participants in promoting the group’s common economic objective.

Beyond the formal sessions, His Excellency the President engaged in a number of bilateral discussions, including meetings with the Brazilian Sherpa and Sherpas from other member states. The discussions centered on boosting bilateral relations and identifying new opportunities for commercial and trade collaboration between the UAE and the BRICS countries.

The UAE’s strong participation reinforced its commitment to supporting the BRICS’ rising role in forging a more inclusive and dynamic global economic order.
