In Dubai, 313 public schools across the UAE have integrated their campus-based healthcare electronically with Emirates Health Services (EHS). This development facilitates swift processing of vaccines and secure exchange of student medical files. The government schools, situated in Dubai, Fujairah, and other locations, are part of the EHS preventive school health program, marking the initial phase of a broader initiative dedicated to enhancing the well-being of pupils. Currently, more than 164,000 students have enrolled in this comprehensive program.
This electronic linkage ensures a two-way information exchange through electronic health records, guaranteeing smooth transitions in healthcare. EHS has successfully administered over 170,000 vaccine doses as part of the National Immunization Programme for school students. The introduction of electronic documentation has significantly streamlined the vaccination process, reducing individual student processing time to under five minutes.
The EHS program is meticulously designed to address the complete spectrum of students’ health, covering physical, mental, and preventive needs. Each student benefits from a dedicated database and electronic medical file that encompasses their medical history, along with a comprehensive record of all healthcare services and preventive measures received.
The effectiveness of electronic integration lies in its accurate identification of students’ health needs, fostering improved communication among all stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and medical teams. This initiative represents a significant stride toward enhancing the overall health and well-being of students within the UAE’s public school system
