UAE Launches Philanthropic Campaign to Aid Lebanon
ABU DHABI [UAE], October 8: At the direction of President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in succession to Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Presidential Court, Sheikh Deputy President of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Knights Affairs, International Humanitarian and Philanthropy Diab bin Mohammed bin Saeed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Council, launched a philanthropic campaign in the UAE community with the Lebanese people.
Scheduled to begin on October 8 and continue until October 21 under the slogan “UAE Stand with Lebanon”, the campaign aims to engage the community, companies and public and private sector organizations.
Speaking about the importance of the campaign, Sheikh Diab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized the importance of the UAE under the leadership of President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to helping the people of Lebanon in their difficult humanitarian situations.
He expressed his belief in the UAE community, businesses and organizations standing with people facing crisis situations and providing support to them.
The campaign announcement came after President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered an emergency relief aid package worth US$100 million as part of the country’s efforts to support the Lebanese people.
The UAE sent six planes with around 205 tons of medical supplies, food, relief supplies and shelter equipment. It is in collaboration with international partners such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
