UAE Introduces New 100-Dirham Polymer Banknote
Dubai: A new 100-dirham banknote made from polymer material rather than conventional paper has been introduced by the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE). The current 100-dirham paper money will continue to be used in conjunction with the new note, even after it is introduced.
The new notes will be available across banks, ATMs, and currency exchange centers throughout the country.
The design of the new banknote features an image of the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, along with Umm Al Quwain Fort on one side. The UAE’s modern infrastructure and development are reflected on the reverse, which includes the Port of Fujairah and the Etihad Rail Network.
The new polymer banknote’s sophisticated security features make it virtually impossible for counterfeiters to copy, which is one of its key selling points. The polymer versions of the 50-, 500- and 1,000-dirham banknotes that the UAE has already introduced are renowned worldwide for their exceptional quality and design.
With this latest introduction, the UAE continues its monetary innovation efforts, ensuring the longevity, stability and increased security of the financial system.
