UAE Imposes Fines on 894 Companies for Violating Emiratisation Rules

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) in the UAE has revealed that 894 private companies were fined for violating Emiratisation rules from mid-2022 to the present date. The ministry disclosed that 1,267 Emiratis were hired in fake Emiratisation positions during this period. While 95% of private companies in the country comply with Emiratisation rules, actions against the violating companies include fines ranging from Dh20,000 to Dh100,000, referral to Public Prosecution for severe violations, classification at the lowest level in MoHRE’s system, payment of Emiratisation financial contributions, and meeting unachieved targets. Emiratis involved in fake Emiratisation cases have had their Nafis benefits suspended, and previously received benefits have been revoked.

894 private companies were fined for violating Emiratisation rules from mid-2022 to the present date. 1,267 Emiratis were hired in fake Emiratisation positions during the mentioned period. 95% of private companies in the UAE were found to comply with Emiratisation rules. Violating companies faced fines, referral to Public Prosecution for severe cases, classification at the lowest level in MoHRE’s system, payment of Emiratisation financial contributions, and meeting unachieved targets.

Emiratis involved in fake Emiratisation cases had their Nafis benefits suspended, and previously received benefits were revoked. MoHRE reminded private sector companies to meet their localisation targets by December 31, with specific targets for companies with 50 employees or more. The ministry has urged the public to report Emiratisation violations through its call centre, smart app, or website.

The UAE continues to enforce Emiratisation rules, aiming to increase the participation of Emiratis in the workforce, especially in skilled roles. Companies failing to meet the specified targets face fines and other penalties.
