UAE Explores Investment Prospects in Himachal’s Green Energy & Tourism Sectors
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, recently met with UAE Ambassador to India Abdulnasser Alshaali to discuss possible business prospects. Important industries including tourism, hospitality, renewable energy, dairy, food processing, and data storage were the focus of their conversations.
The tourism industry in Himachal Pradesh has drawn significant attention from the UAE, especially in the areas of adventure sports and skiing. The ambassador welcomed more recommendations from the state government and emphasised that his nation had previously identified possible investment places. The parties decided to designate nodal officials to supervise and expedite project implementation in order to expedite the process. Soon, a technical team from the United Arab Emirates will travel to Himachal to thoroughly evaluate the potential for investment.
Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized Himachal Pradesh’s immense potential, citing its scenic landscapes, snow-covered regions, and rich water bodies as major attractions. He stated that the state administration is dedicated to improving the infrastructure for tourists by building new heliports, four-lane highways, ropeways, and Kangra airport. By enhancing connectivity, these projects want to establish Himachal as a top destination for investment.
By the next year, Himachal Pradesh is expected to become a “Green Energy State” in terms of green energy. The creation of six green corridors, new solar power projects, and the gradual switch from diesel to electric buses in the public transport system are just a few of the environmental and renewable energy projects the state government has undertaken in the last two years. With over 25% of India’s hydroelectric potential, the Chief Minister emphasised that Himachal offers attractive investment opportunities in solar energy and pump storage projects.
Additionally, the state government has invited UAE firms to invest in food processing, cold storage facilities, smart city projects, and modern urban planning initiatives. The ambassador of the United Arab Emirates reiterated his nation’s current engagement in India’s green energy industry and conveyed his desire to work with the state administration. For additional coordination and strategic investment planning, he also asked Himachal Pradesh for comprehensive project ideas.
Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, UAE Economic Affairs Specialist Rasheed Amiri, and Gokul Butail, the Chief Minister’s Principal Advisor for IT and Innovation, attended the meeting.
