UAE Deputy PM Inaugurates DP World’s Advanced Logistics Hub in Mumbai
New Delhi, Apr 11: In a significant boost to UAE-India trade ties, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, inaugurated DP World’s Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) – the Nhava Sheva Business Park (NSBP) – during his official visit to Mumbai.
The inauguration marks the first official visit of Sheikh Hamdan to India, which took place from April 8 to 9, 2025. He was accompanied during the tour of the facility by Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World.
The Nhava Sheva Business Park was created by DP World, a logistics firm located in Dubai. As part of a broader project, the corporation has invested more than USD 200 million to create three top-notch FTWZs throughout India. These areas are ideally situated close to the shore, guaranteeing easy access to ports and effective trade.
The Nhava Sheva facility, located near Mumbai, currently features 1 million square feet of state-of-the-art warehousing space, with an additional 1 million square feet under planning. It is equipped with specialised infrastructure, including temperature-controlled units, to support a wide range of industries.
“These warehousing zones are designed to simplify business through advanced infrastructure, regulatory ease, and a range of value-added services,” DP World said in a statement.
Addressing the gathering at the inauguration, Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the role of such infrastructure in strengthening bilateral trade:
“The development of world-class logistics hubs like the Nhava Sheva Business Park is a major step toward enhancing connectivity between the UAE and India. It reflects our mutual commitment to sustainability, growth and innovation.
“With the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and India already facilitating accelerated trade, the FTWZ network will take operational efficiency and scalability to the next level,” said Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman of DP World, further highlighting the broader economic impact.
The inauguration ceremony establishes India as a key player in DP World’s global supply chain ecosystem and marks the deepening collaboration between the two countries.
