UAE to Chair 114th Arab Economic and Social Council Session in Cairo
Cairo [Egypt], August 31: The UAE will chair the 114th regular session of the Arab Economic and Social Council (AESC), which will begin tomorrow Sunday and continue until next Thursday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League. .
The session will discuss issues of joint Arab cooperation in economic and social fields.
The session will include a series of key meetings that will bring together ministers, officials and experts from various Arab countries to discuss priority economic and social issues aimed at enhancing Arab cooperation and achieving sustainable development in the region.
Preparatory meetings will begin tomorrow Sunday with the Social Committee meeting discussing a range of social issues including the Arab Strategy for Lifelong Education, the role of social support in achieving equity and equal learning opportunities, and the Arab Decade for Literacy and Adults. education
The meetings will cover international Arab cooperation in social and development fields, along with reports and decisions of ministerial committees and special committees. The committee will present an agenda item on the initiative “Culture and a Green Future” and another proposal to establish volunteer centers for youth and retirees to serve the elderly.
The Economic Committee will meet on Monday and Tuesday to discuss the economic agenda, which includes the 2020 Agricultural Development Strategy, the Arab Program for Sustainable Food Security, and the 2023 Report on Arab Food Security.
The committee will also talk on the Aquaculture Strategy 2018–2037 and the Arab Strategy for the Sustainable Management of Pastoral Resources 2020–2040. The “Madak” space race, reports and decisions from ministerial committees and committees, joint Arab organisations, and enhancing the effectiveness of certain Arab organisations will also be covered.
The proposals of the social and economic committees will be reviewed and discussed in a top official level meeting of the Arab Economic and Social Council next Wednesday. A ministerial meeting of the Council will take place following the conference to make final decisions and ratify the proposals that were considered.
The meetings take place at a pivotal moment for the Arab world, as its member nations want to improve coordination and collaboration in order to tackle social and economic issues.
