UAE Celebrating Emirati Women’s Day

Emirati Women’s Day is observed in the UAE in a variety of ways. “A place without women does not have a soul,” the UAE leader lauds Emirati women. The World Economic Forum’s 2023 Global Gender Gap Report classified the UAE as a leading nation in the region for gender equality.

In addition, the nation is honoring Emirati women’s day in distinctive and varied ways. Pragna Vaya, founder and managing director of orbit events and promotion, coordinated an abaya rally to honor women everywhere.

Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), first celebrated Emirati Women’s Day eight years ago today.

The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder and first President of the United Arab Emirates, was married to Sheikha Fatima, a woman referred to as the “Mother of the Nation.”
In order to recognize and honor the efforts and accomplishments of Emirati women to the country’s advancement and development, she created Emirati Women’s Day in 2015.

The purpose of Emirati Women’s Day is to recognize the contributions made by Emirati women in a variety of fields, including business, government, education, healthcare, and the arts. It also emphasizes the improvements in women’s chances and rights throughout the nation.

The date of August 28 was chosen to honor Emirati women since it is the anniversary of the General Women’s Union (GWU), which was founded in the UAE in 1975.
