For citizens of the United Arab Emirates, Emirati Women’s Day, celebrated on August 28, is a time of respect and appreciation for women who play a vital role in national development. This day is a symbol of gratitude for their active contribution in building the future of the country.

The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates to the Russian Federation organized an event to mark Emirati Women’s Day, which was attended by officials including the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Russian Federation, Mohammed Ahmed Al Jaber.

In his address, the Ambassador emphasized the UAE Government’s commitment to empowering women.

“The idea of dedicating a national holiday to women demonstrates the UAE government’s commitment to promote gender equality as one of the national priorities, one of the most important topics of the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. The UAE Roadmap for Future Development is set for future achievement before the UAE Centenary 2071 ” he said.

By 2024, the UAE government has raised the bar in terms of support for women, reaching 50 percent female representation in top legislative bodies and 27.3 percent in ministerial positions. Currently, nine women hold ministerial posts and 12 women represent the UAE as ambassadors, representing 11 percent of the country’s ambassadors, the highest in the Arab region.

“We now have 12 women serving as ambassadors and permanent representatives of the UAE, which is 11 percent of the total number of ambassadors in the UAE and the highest percentage in all Arab countries,” said Naima Suhail Al Musharraf, head of the Department of Media, Cultural and Public Diplomatic Affairs.

UAE officials believe that this increase in the number of women in leadership positions, supported by a wise government, points to high corporate performance, a thriving economy and a high level of equality achieved through the important role and effective contribution of Emirati women. Together with men for the revival and sustainable development of the country.
