UAE-Based Indian Gynecologist Dr. Bindu Philip Dies in Kerala Car Accident

In a tragic accident, Dr. Bindu Philip, a well-known Indian expatriate and gynecologist based in the UAE, lost her life in Kerala while traveling home from Thiruvananthapuram Airport. The accident took place early on the morning of March 24 near Kottarakkara, Valakom, Kampamcodu, on MC Road.

The 48-year-old Dr. Bindu, who was employed at the NMC Medical Centre in Buhairah Corniche, Sharjah, had made a brief trip to India in preparation for her housewarming celebration. Around 5:30 am, the car lost control, collided with a road barrier, and overturned, allegedly due to Biju George, the driver, falling asleep behind the wheel. Both the driver and Dr. Bindu suffered severe injuries and were taken to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, where she eventually passed away.

A skilled obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Bindu has a medical degree from Dr. S N Medical College in Jodhpur and a postgraduate degree from Kasturba Medical College in Manipal.
She began her medical career at a reputed maternity and infertility hospital in Kerala and later served as an Associate Professor at Mount Zion Medical College. Before joining NMC Medical Centre in Sharjah, she worked in Dubai, managing both normal and cesarean deliveries.

She specialized in high-risk pregnancy care, infertility treatments, and cervical cancer screenings. She was a member of the Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology in India (FOGSI) and a registered member of the Travancore Medical Council.

The medical community is left with a hole following Dr. Bindu’s unexpected death. Her husband passed away two years ago, leaving her two children, Venus and Anjalana, to deal with an unfathomable sorrow.
