In a significant cabinet reshuffle announced on Saturday, UAE astronaut Sultan Al-Neyadi has been appointed as the Minister of Youth. This noteworthy development was communicated by Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum on X, where he highlighted Al-Neyadi’s distinguished contributions in the military, space sector, and the scientific field, showcasing his dedication to both the country and humanity.

Sheikh Mohammed underscored the role of public nominations in the selection process, emphasizing the importance of public engagement in decision-making processes. He further elaborated that Al-Neyadi, despite his new responsibilities, will continue to fulfill his scientific and space-related duties.

Al-Neyadi, renowned as the first Arab astronaut to spend an impressive six months on the International Space Station, played a pivotal role in conducting over 200 science experiments and technology demonstrations during NASA’s SpaceX Crew-6 mission. This collaborative mission involved working alongside NASA astronauts Stephen Bowen and Woody Hoburg, as well as Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev. The mission commenced on March 2, 2023, from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
