Suhail star appearing; sign of summer end in the Emirates

It has been reported that this summer is about to come to an end as the sun exposure is high in the United Arab Emirates ahead of summer. That is, the most awaited Suhail star will appear in the southeast sky of the Arabian Peninsula on August 24 at dawn, according to an Emirati astronomer.

This astronomical event is traditionally said to mark the end of intense summer heat and the beginning of cooler weather. Hence, residents and tourists of the emirate are expected to experience cooler weather in the coming days. It is noteworthy that the UAE has already experienced heavy rains and high-speed winds for the past few days.

Regarding this, Ibrahim Al Jarwan, a member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, said that the appearance of the Suhail star (Canopus) in the sky promises that the extreme temperatures prevailing in the country will subside and the days will move towards milder weather.

However, Al Jarwan explained that it is unlikely to see the star before August 20 in southern areas such as Liwa, and before August 25 in northern areas such as Ras Al Khaimah.

The rise of the star Suhail has cultural and historical significance in the country, but it does not immediately change the weather. That is, it is said to be an astronomical phenomenon and does not directly moderate weather conditions immediately.
