Abu Dhabi: Celebrating the arrival of New Year 2024, the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Abu Dhabi’s Al Wathba area made headlines by breaking four Guinness World Records. The festivities included an extraordinary fireworks display, a 60-minute drone show, and international performances, creating a joyous and culturally rich atmosphere for the diverse crowd in attendance.
The festival drew a large international audience, offering a range of events, activities, and performances to mark the occasion. A 40-minute fireworks display set three Guinness World Records, while a spectacular drone show involving over 5,000 drones achieved a record for the largest aerial logo.
Adding to the enchantment, a unique laser show, a first for New Year celebrations in the region, mesmerized festival-goers with vibrant colors and soothing rhythms, symbolizing the start of the New Year. Special performances took place at iconic locations such as the Emirates Fountain, Glowing Towers Garden, and various pavilions, complemented by folklore displays from around the world.
The entire festival grounds buzzed with visitors, especially at the Heritage Village, where traditional Razfa and Ayalah dances were showcased. Children’s City featured special activities, including plays, competitions, and fun rides, creating a festive environment for families.
Embracing diversity, the International Civilisations Parade brought together participants from various countries, highlighting the multicultural aspect of the festival. Visitors were treated to carnival shows, folklore performances, and a unique blend of global celebrations.
The festival also offered new dining experiences from local and international restaurants, along with shopping discounts and surprise bonuses.
