Sharjah Mosque to Translate Friday Sermons into 40 Languages via Minbar App
One of the largest mosques in Sharjah will translate Friday sermons, or khutbahs, into 40 different languages for the first time in the country.
The “Minbar” app will allow users to listen to Friday sermons at Al Maqfirah Mosque in Al Seef.
The effort was started by Sharjah’s Islamic Affairs Department with the goal of expanding the Friday sermons’ message, particularly for non-Arabic speakers.
Additionally, it aligns with the leadership’s desire to enhance government services through the use of artificial intelligence technologies.
The software, which is free to download from the software Store and Google Play, offers text or audio translation during or after the sermon and lets users select from 40 different languages, including English, French, Urdu, Pashto, and others.
You can download and store sermons for later use.
The department stressed that the application represents “a qualitative shift in improving social interaction and integrating tolerant Islamic values,” noting that the initiative aims to “enable all members of the community to benefit from Friday sermons, regardless of their language differences.”
