Saudi King Salman Discharged from Hospital after Routine Check-Up
Following a routine check-up on Wednesday, King Salman of Saudi Arabia was discharged from the hospital, according to an official statement from the Royal Court reported by the Saudi Press Agency. This announcement came after an earlier statement from the Royal Court, which had informed the public that the King had been admitted to the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah for a brief period for a routine examination.
The Royal Court’s expression of prayers for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques underscores the deep concern for the King’s health, recognizing his pivotal role in the nation’s affairs. The timing of this hospital visit aligns with previous instances of medical attention for the monarch. Notably, in May 2022, King Salman underwent a colonoscopy at the same hospital, with subsequent medical reports affirming his good health. Furthermore, in March 2022, he underwent a comprehensive series of medical tests, including the replacement of batteries in his pacemaker, indicative of ongoing health monitoring and management.
The King’s health journey has been marked by public scrutiny, especially considering his age and the responsibilities he shoulders. In July 2020, he successfully underwent surgery to remove his gall bladder due to inflammation, highlighting the necessity of medical interventions to ensure his well-being.
At the age of 88, King Salman has been at the helm of Saudi Arabia since 2015, guiding the nation through a period of transformation and reform. His leadership is closely intertwined with the future trajectory of the Kingdom, particularly with the significant role played by his son, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who assumed the position of Crown Prince in 2017 and has been instrumental in driving forward ambitious initiatives and reforms.
