RIYADH: Saudi Arabia is poised to inaugurate the inaugural Environmental Compliance Forum 2024 this Sunday, marking a significant step towards enhancing environmental stewardship in the kingdom. Organized by the National Center for Environmental Compliance, the Riyadh forum aims to convene a diverse array of local, regional, and global specialists and decision-makers in the environmental field, as reported by the state news agency SPA.
Over the course of two days, the forum will delve into key issues and developments shaping the future of environmental sustainability. Saad Al-Matrafi, spokesperson for the center, disclosed that more than 40 international and regional experts from 10 countries will gather to discuss future trends and strategies in sustainable environmental practices.
The forum presents a unique opportunity to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among governmental, private, and nonprofit sectors, with a focus on advancing the environmental sector comprehensively. A central component of the forum is the Sustainability Cafe, which will serve as a platform for dialogue and exploration of best practices, environmental innovations, and technologies.
Al-Matrafi underscored the forum’s significance in providing institutions and companies with a platform to evaluate and enhance their projects, initiatives, and tools supporting environmental sustainability. By aligning plans and projects with global environmental practices, participants aim to contribute to the successful implementation of initiatives promoting a sustainable environment.
Sessions at the forum will address a spectrum of topics critical to environmental sustainability and economic growth in alignment with the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. These include challenges in advancing economic diversification, policy and governance frameworks, technological innovation, sustainable development, private sector engagement, community involvement, and the role of youth in environmental stewardship.
Noteworthy participants at the forum include CEOs of national environmental centers and key national companies such as NEOM, Red Sea Global, the New Square Development Company, and the Saudi Mining Company.
The Sustainability Cafe will provide a dynamic platform for youth engagement, enabling young individuals to voice their aspirations and contributions towards environmental conservation, alongside specialized environmental associations.
