Saudi Arabia Declares Four-Day Eid Al-Fitr Holiday for Private and Non-Profit Sectors


Riyadh: The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MoHRSD) in Saudi Arabia has announced a four-day holiday for employees in the private and non-profit sectors in observance of Eid Al-Fitr 1446 AH-2025.

Eid Al-Fitr marks the conclusion of Ramzan, the sacred Islamic month of fasting, which commenced on Saturday, March 1.

As per the ministry’s announcement, the holiday will begin at the close of business on Saturday, Ramzan 29 (March 29), and will end on Wednesday, April 2. Employers are required to comply with the provisions of paragraph 2 of Article 24 of the executive regulations of the Labour Law.

The Significance of Eid Al-Fitr
Eid Al-Fitr is a significant Islamic holiday that is observed all around the world. A month of meditation, fasting, and spiritual dedication comes to a close on this day.

Following the discovery of the crescent moon, the festival is observed on the first day of Shawwal, which falls in the tenth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. As families and communities get together to exchange greetings and partake in special dishes, the celebrations, which often last three days, foster happiness, thankfulness, and solidarity.
