Saud bin Saqr arrives in Rome to attend Pope’s inauguration

Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Represents UAE at Papal Inauguration in Rome

ROME – Representing President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has arrived in Rome to attend the official inauguration of Pope Leo XIV as the new head of the Catholic Church.

Sheikh Saud is joined by Sheikh Khalid bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of Ras Al Khaimah’s Investment and Development Office, for this significant global religious event.

The inauguration follows the passing of Pope Francis, whose papacy was noted for championing global interfaith dialogue and promoting humanitarian values. The historic Document on Human Fraternity, which was co-signed by Pope Francis in Abu Dhabi in 2019 and set the stage for the United Nations to recognize February 4 as the International Day of Human Fraternity, is one of his most enduring legacies.

A prestigious assembly of heads of state, dignitaries, and world leaders are anticipated to attend the papal installation ceremony, which will take place at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City and honor Catholic Church customs. This prominent representation demonstrates the UAE’s dedication to interfaith harmony and international communication.
